Excitement Abounds as Construction Begins on Phase One of the Augusta Jewish Museum

Augusta, GA, June 10, 2020 - Historic Augusta and the Augusta Jewish Museum Board will hold a joint press conference Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at the Court of Ordinary on Telfair Street adjacent to the Augusta Municipal Building (535 Telfair Street).

Plans will be unveiled to convert the former Court of Ordinary Building for use as a museum

(Phase I) which will be followed in coming months by an expansion into a larger museum by adding the

adjacent Temple, the oldest standing synagogue in Georgia (Phase II).

The Augusta Jewish Museum Board, chaired by Jack Weinstein, has engaged Studio 3 Design Group with Ellen Neal Pruitt as architect for construction. Duckworth Development is the general contractor. The museum should be open by December 2020.
